ABA Techshow: Startup Alley 2025
RICHARD WEINER
Technology for Lawyers
Published: April 18, 2025
Every year the ABA Techshow features 15 legal tech startups who participate in the convention’s Startup Alley.
Startup Alley gives lawyers the opportunity to see what new tech is coming down the pike, and also, maybe, gives people the opportunity to invest in upcoming legal tech companies.
Sort of like Shark Tank for lawyers. I guess. Anyway, here are some of the 2025 legal tech startups that stand out. If you guess that most of them use AI, you would be correct. Check them out if you want. Many come with free trials.
Element Standard (https://www.elementstandard.com) is “the only legal software that enhances client transparency.” Their flagship product, CONTROLit, simplifies complex litigation “into clear, actionable steps… and ensures every action aligns with client goals.”
AllRize (https://allrize.ai) is practice management software that was developed “by lawyers, for lawyers.” They say they’re the best cause lawyers know what lawyers need. Can’t argue with that.
Lawft (https://lawft.com) is practice management software designed by lawyers for lawyers. See above.
Legion AI Associate (https://legion.law) says to “delegate litigation busywork to your AI associate.” This company claims to give you the equivalent of an extra associate into your office to handle pleadings, discovery, motions, letters and etc. All the stuff busy lawyers don’t have the time to do. With human oversight, just like a real associate. I think the associate’s name is Ava.
Case Crafter (https://casecrafter.com) creates bite-sized trial presentation visuals that a modern ADHD jury can understand. This is a really good idea, imo.
CounselVault (https://occamsops.com) is a product of Occam’s Ops that is an on-premises cybersecure storage facility for your confidential electronic materials. The company also has a few other legal tech products.
Midpage (https://www.midpage.ai/) is an all-in-one AI-assisted legal research tool that already has 7000 subscribers. If you trust GenAI.
Bot Mediation (https://botmediation.com/) is a robot mediator. Not sure where robots go to get law degrees and mediator training, but here we are. Not really. The software lets the players mediate cases on their own time.
Moxx (https://www.moxxapp.com/) is a digital trial notebook that organizes and streamlines your case.
Thanks to the great Bob Ambrogi for organizing Startup Alley once again.
